Borrow

About

Libraries lend drills, sewing machines, telescopes, thermal cameras and ukuleles. Each one lists them on its own page. This site puts them in one place so you can find the thing, then sends you to the library to borrow it.

How it works

Every listing comes from a public page — almost always the library’s own — with a link back to that page and the date it was last checked. When you want something, the button takes you to the library’s catalog record, where you place the hold with your library card. We never handle holds, accounts, or availability — the library does.

This is a first pass in every city. Most libraries lend more than is listed here; the library’s own page always has the full list.

What this isn’t

It isn’t run by or affiliated with any library. If a listing and the library disagree, the library is right.
